JOB BRIEF: Restore two tired old decks, make it safe again and modernise. Install new framing and decking boards, install new vertical stainless-steel wire balustrades.
Accessing the site was awkward due its height – more than 4.5m above ground. We replaced 80% of the deck framing and all new decking boards. Pacific Jarrah in 140mm wide hardwood was used with stainless steel fixings for longevity. Because the deck was so high off the ground, building regulations don’t allow horizontal wire balustrade, instead vertical stainless steel is used, and it looks so good in this waterfall edge design.
